Our family arrived in Bethany and we requested early check in at the hotel. We were given a park pass and complimentary beach chairs and umbrella.

We enjoyed an afternoon at the beach (only two blocks away) and after returning our room was ready early.

Our room was clean and quiet. We enjoyed a great stay and enjoyed the breakfast the next day.

Would highly recommend Bethany Beach Hotel!

When we checked in, we were directed to a room in complete disarray. Fans blowing and a strong smell of bleach greeted us, so we quickly retreated and went back to the front desk. There was no apology, only a complaint that “housekeeping is a black hole that never tells us anything” and that the front desk “hates August.” They also sent another staff member up to verify our story. They initially said they were going to move us to their sister hotel, saying, “it’s beautiful; you’ll love it!” We then overheard a phone conversation that suggested that option was too expensive, and suddenly a room was found at the original hotel. The room was okay. It smelled a bit of cologne, but seemed clean enough. The carpet was pretty stained, and the grout is dirty, I think as a consequence of charging $25 for housekeeping which disincentivizes people from having the rooms cleaned and causes them to get more dirty than they otherwise would.

On the plus side, the location is good for the beach (and the complementary chairs and umbrella are awesome), and walking to Sea Colony Tennis, but don’t expect the complementary cookies (unless you get there at 2:20 we were told because they run out). Also, you will get your two orange smashes, but don’t you dare ask for more!

Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. For the price we paid, I expect more service and cleanliness.

Honest review of Hotel Bethany Beach:
Despite the hotel’s convenient location and a pool that was perfectly adequate, my overall stay was deeply disappointing and frustrating.

Right off the bat, the added fees felt excessive and misleading. A $25 nightly parking surcharge and a $25 daily housecleaning fee (if you wanted the service) left me feeling like the hotel was more interested in squeezing guests for every dollar than providing a quality experience.

The room itself had an adjoining door to the neighboring unit, which made it nearly impossible to relax. You could hear everything from the next room—barking dog, TV noise, full conversations, and even more intimate moments. It completely undermined any sense of privacy or comfort.

To make matters worse, getting extra towels required a trip to the front desk instead of a simple call or in-room service. For a hotel at this price point, that level of service is well below expectations.

In short, while the location and pool were good and the staff friendly,I felt the fees, poor sound insulation, and lack of basic conveniences made this a stay I won’t be repeating. I would not recommend this hotel and I won’t be returning.
